Orthobiologic Injections
Orthobiologic Injections
Put off by the thought of surgery? Heal sports injuries using your own cells instead
Muscle and joint repairing injections for sports injuries
Orthobiologic injections are an innovative non-surgical option for treating various sports injuries. They can accelerate the healing of damaged tissue, reduce pain and inflammation, and help restore function and mobility to injured joints and muscles.
This non-invasive procedure utilises your body’s natural healing abilities and, more specifically, growth factors in platelets from your own blood, to rebuild injured musculoskeletal tissue. It is an effective treatment for:
– Tendon injuries such as Tennis Elbow, Golfer’s Elbow, and Achilles tendonitis.
– Ligament sprains and tears
– Muscle injuries such as hamstring, quadriceps and calf muscle strains
– Joint issues such as osteoarthritis and cartilage damage
– Chronic conditions such as plantar fasciitis and rotator cuff tendonitis
(For more information, see “How do orthobiologic injections work for sports injuries?” in the FAQs section.)
The procedure involves drawing a small amount of your blood into a sterile tube, just like a standard blood test. The tube is placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate the platelets from the other components of your blood.
The platelet-rich concentration, containing 7 different growth factors, is injected under the guidance of ultrasound to ensure it accurately reaches the injured area. These growth factors then initiate and enhance various natural healing processes such as the growth of new cells, the formation of new blood vessels, collagen production, and a better regulated inflammatory response that reduces pain and swelling.
Orthobiologic injection therapy is often considered by patients with longstanding injuries who have been unsuccessful with other treatments and wish to avoid surgery.
As a minimally invasive procedure, it is particularly appealing to athletes looking to return to their sport as quickly as possible. However, the effectiveness can depend on the extent of the injuries and the general health of the patient.
Side effects are extremely rare since platelets from the patient’s own blood are used to stimulate healing.

For a faster, natural, and less painful recovery
Injury can happen at any moment, and seriously affect your quality of life. Through physical therapy, medication, or lifestyle changes alone, you may be faced with a longer recovery process than you would like. Other, long-term injuries can be even more debilitating and are often resistant to traditional treatment.
Orthobiologic injections can play a significant role in speeding up the healing process, helping you regain strength and mobility in treated areas faster than you otherwise would.
Don’t settle for unnecessary pain and an extended recovery period when you don’t have to.
“Orthobiologic injections are a natural and non-invasive option for troublesome injuries that don’t respond well to traditional treatments.”
