Urolon®
Urolon®
One 20-minute procedure, no more involuntary leakage
Urolon® for stress urinary incontinence
eJoli clinic now offers Urolon® as an innovative, non-surgical treatment for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women.
Urolon® is a specialist filler that contains polycaprolactone (PCL), an FDA approved and CE-marked compound, suspended in a gel carrier. When injected, the PCL stimulates the production of collagen in the urethra. This helps keep the urethra sealed, and makes it better able to resist abdominal pressure on the bladder during coughing, sneezing, laughing and other forms of strenuous activity.
The Urolon® injection is performed using a cystoscope for higher precision. Typically, three deposits of Urolon are injected into the wall of the urethra.
A key benefit of Urolon® treatment is its bioresorption – the body naturally breaks down and disposes of the materials used and produced by the treatment substance (in this case PCL) over time.
Compared to similar treatments, there is a higher level of safety associated with Urolon® as it is not permanently retained in the body and will gradually fade away, reducing the chance of long-term complications or of unwanted interactions with alternate treatments.
With 1 in 3 women experiencing some form of SUI during their lifetime, it’s far more common than many people realise and has a significant impact on quality of life. Weakened pelvic floor muscles are the cause, usually brought on by:
– Pregnancy and childbirth
– Menopause
– The effects of ageing, particularly the natural loss of collagen
– Chronic coughing or sneezing
– Obesity
– Smoking
– Years of high-intensity activities
The Urolon® treatment takes no more than 20 minutes, and most patients can return to normal life (excluding strenuous exercise) immediately after the procedure.
